Welcome to my universe.
It has been a hot minute since I’ve updated the website, but I want you guys to know that I’m still alive – and lifting. Today I want to tell you about my latest project on YouTube called Diary of A Vegan Powerlifter. I believe the title is pretty self-explanatory, but in case you are still in the dark, I’ll explain. Diary is my vlog, a peek into my daily life and habits as a vegan, a powerlifter and a human being. I wanted to start this vlog for several reasons:
1.) While more and more athletes are adopting a vegan lifestyle, particularly endurance athletes, there is still relatively little vegan representation in the the strength community. The stereotype that vegans are weak and skinny persists, and people continue to insist that meat and dairy build superior muscles. As a powerlifting vegan, I am out to smash that stereotype and inspire other vegans out there to do the same.
2.) I want to help other vegans or aspiring vegans who may be struggling with their nutrition or fitness goals. Some topics I plan on covering are grocery shopping, what I eat in a day, post/pre workout nutrition, training regimens, etc. As someone who has been living a plant-based lifestyle for almost 15 years (first as a vegetarian, then vegan), I have acquired a solid foundation in plant-based living and I want to share my experience with those who could benefit from it.
3.) The fitness industry is filled with supposedly perfect individuals with perfect bodies, perfect health, perfect lives….that is not reality, dudes. It’s photoshop and good marketing. It is de-moralizing and depressing to continually reach for goals or standards that are unattainable. I want to be your inspiration, in all my imperfect glory, to finding your own imperfect perfection – in real life. Because whatever I can do, you can do (and hopefully, better!).
There you have it, guys! I’ll be posting episodes weekly. Make sure to follow me on my journey by subscribing to my channel on YouTube. Let me know if there are any topics you want me to cover!
